Where to Eat in Sykia & Sithonia
One of the great joys of a Sithonia holiday is the food: fresh fish, grilled dishes with a sea view, and local ingredients. Here's where we locals actually eat — from Sykia's village square to the fish tavernas right by the water.
🏛️ On Sykia's village square (2 minutes' walk)
The heart of the village is literally next to Amira House. On the square you'll find traditional tavernas with home-cooked dishes and grills, cafés for your morning coffee or an ouzo, and the village bakery for fresh bread, cheese pies and sweets. Perfect for a relaxed dinner without the car.
🐟 Fish tavernas by the sea
At Sykia beach (5 minutes by car) and the surrounding bays there are fish tavernas serving the fresh catch of the day — anchovies, calamari, grilled octopus, mussels. Ask for the fish of the day and enjoy it with a sunset view.
🍢 What to try
- Fresh fish & seafood — the star of the region.
- Grilled meats & souvlaki — for more casual evenings.
- Greek salad with local olive oil and feta.
- Local honey & traditional sweets — Halkidiki is famous for its honey.
- Ice cream & coffee on the square after a stroll.
🚗 A little further: Sarti
10 minutes by car, Sarti offers more options — restaurants, beach bars and fish tavernas with greater variety, ideal if you fancy a change of scene.
💡 Local tips
- In August, book ahead at the fish tavernas with a view — they fill up.
- Locals eat late (after 21:00) — that's when the atmosphere is best.
- Ask us on WhatsApp for today's recommendation — it changes by season.
Or… cook it yourself
Amira House has a full kitchen and a traditional stone BBQ in the garden. Grab fresh fish from the fishmonger and grill it under the pergola.
